Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Discovery learning Terhadap Kemampuan Pemahaman Konsep Matematis Peserta didik SMP Negeri 2 Waingapu

              Rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didik pada pembelajaran matematika disebabkan oleh berbagai faktor, antara lain faktor internal dan eksternal yang mengakibatkan peserta didik lebih cenderung melakukan hapalan tanpa pemahaman yang dalam. Discovery Learning dapat memfasilitasi dan membangun kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematia peserta didik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran Discovery Learning terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis peserta didik SMP Negeri 2 Waingapu berdasarkan kemampuan awal peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen satu kelompok pre-test, dan post-test. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari 19 peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 waingapu dengan sampel penelitian yang dipilih yaitu peserta didik kelas VIII G yang mengikuti perlakuan menggunakan model pembelajaran Discovery learning. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes tertulis yang terdiri dari empat soal uraian. Untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh dari model pembelajaran tersebut, dilakukan uji  paired t-test. Hasil yang diperoleh dibuktikan nilai signifikan untuk pretest sebesar 0,141 dan pada posttest sebesar 0,066, yang menunjukan bahwa sig  sehingga  dapat diterima. Analisis hasil menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan, sehingga hipotesis alternatif dapat diterima sementara hipotesis nol ditolak. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran Discovery learning memiliki dampak signifikan terhadap pemahaman konsep matematika peserta didik kelas VIII SMP, khususnya dalam topik materi persamaan garis lurus.

Abstract

              Students' low understanding of mathematical concepts in mathematics learning is caused by various factors, including internal and external factors, which make students more likely to memorize without deep understanding. Discovery Learning can facilitate and build students' ability to understand mathematical concepts. This research aims to determine the effect of Discovery Learning on students' ability to understand mathematical concepts at SMP Negeri 2 Waingapu based on the student's initial abilities. The research method used is quantitative with a one-group pre-test and post-test experimental design. The research population comprised 19 class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Waingapu. The chosen research sample was class VIII G students who participated in treatment using the Discovery learning model. The research instrument used was a written test consisting of four essay questions. A paired t-test was carried out to evaluate the effect of this learning model. The results obtained were proven to have a significant value for the pretest of 0.141 and the posttest of 0.066, which shows that the sig is acceptable. Analysis of the results shows substantial differences, so the alternative hypothesis can be accepted while the null hypothesis is rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that using the Discovery learning model significantly impacts the understanding of mathematical concepts for class VIII SMP students, especially in the topic of straight line equations.
